You cannot — and should not — admire the modern skyscrapers of Porta Nuova on an empty stomach. Start with an early lunch and grab a slice (or two) of focaccia of your liking to fuel your shopping spree, cultural walks, or simply to satisfy your hunger in a deliciously efficient way.
This spot is a local favourite, so don’t be surprised if you find a line. Peak time is between 13:00 and 14:00, when all the corporate minions are on their lunch break. When the weather is nice, there are a few tables outside, or you can enjoy your focaccia in the nearby BAM park.
It’s a quick and easy solution for something molto tipico italiano — fast food only in terms of how quickly it’s eaten, not how it’s made. The owners definitely put in time, care, and top-quality ingredients.
My favourite: focaccia con prosciutto cotto e fontina.
