If you are walking around in the city center, you can notice a huge building with high windows that are actually glass cases. Depending on the season they are decorated in different ways for Christmas, spring, new school year, etc. Sometimes they are reflecting essential parts of city or country life such as the glass case of IIHF World Championship in 2014 or the European Games 2018. This is GUM.
It's one of the places, that can rightfully be called heritage from the USSR. Time here goes by on its own pace. Once you have entered it, it's like you've entered a time machine!
It's actually the second attempt to build a department store in Minsk. The first one failed because of World War II - the street where GUM was located was fully destroyed. A new one was opened in 1951. Here you can find 3 floors of clothes, goods for home, souvenirs, food, services, etc.
Here you can buy handmade souvenirs, goods from local brands or simply enjoy your time travel.
