Whether Montrealers like it or not, many areas of the city are slowly yet steadily becoming gentrified. While this process may be seen as a negative by many as it changes the character of a neighborhood, it can result in a few positives, such as new parks, roads or businesses with homegrown roots. Along with the Griffintown and Verdun areas, Pointe-St-Charles is rapidly developing into a neighborhood full of trendy hangouts, one of which is 4 Origines - Microbrasserie.
Just across from Griffintown over the Lachine Canal and not far from the bike path and Saint Patrick Square, 4 Origines is a microbrewery with a mission to “help educate patrons on the brewing process, and above all else, to brew quality, an independent beer that Montrealers can be proud of”. From the graffiti-tagged walls and the industrial vibe to their original brews with names like Cassis Royale or Agave Lime, it’s a great space to meet up with friends for a beer indoors or out on the terrace.
