Overpriced restaurants are not a rare thing. And you never know why the same item on the menu may cost, let's say, 300 or 700 RUB. True cost solves this issue. The restaurant is available only if you buy an entrance ticket (that varies from 200 RUB to 700 RUB per person), but the prices on the menu are "fair" ones. That means that the price is based only on the cost of ingredients and the expenses on cooking. What they also do is indicate "average Moscow price" for each dish. Well, I wouldn't trust these number without a grain of salt but True Cost serves really cheap meals. A lovely dinner for two person with wine may cost around 1200-1500 RUB (don't forget about the entrance fee though).
What I really like about the place is that you easily forget about paying at the entrance. And the menu is also surprising - the restaurant doesn't try to serve the cheapest meals ever - they do it with quality. Chef's salad with artichokes or black Angus beef or grilled seafood... A lovely list of wines and cocktails... A perfect match for a cozy evening.
The concept of "fair cost resto" is expanding. This particular True Cost is #3 in Moscow. I haven't checked the other locations yet but all of them are usually very busy in the evening, so don't forget to make a reservation. Overall, if there was a Tinder for cafes and restaurants I would swipe right for True Cost.
