After the epic Spotters Weekend in 2016, I fell in love with Athens. After going back to Moscow, I kept looking for authentic places where I could taste some Greek food, to feel as if I were in Athens again. I found some, and ‘Pita&Souvlaki’ became one of my favourites.

I discovered ‘Pita&Souvlaki’ thanks to its location in the very center of Moscow. In fact, there is not only one ‘Pita&Souvlaki’ spot in Moscow. It’s a chain, and you can enjoy a meal in different locations. But the one I’m talking about, and which I prefer the most, is located close to the ‘Kitay-gorod’ metro stations, on Pokrovka Street. It has a lot of space, the staff is really friendly, and besides, it reminds me of a Greek tavern a lot.

I strongly recommend ordering merides. It’s souvlaki, famous meat pieces fried on a skewer, but in a plain way, served on a plate. The chicken one is very tasty, but you can try all of them, depending on your taste. Sorry guys, meat lovers only. But if you’re mad about cheese, you’ll be happy to know they have typical Cypriot goat cheese called halloumi.

Another of my favorites is the moussaka, the Balkan dish made with eggplant and ground meat, in a casserole shape. Béchamel sauce fits it perfectly. And for the dinner’s peak, typical Greek frappé coffee, bitter yet still captivating at the same time. Believe me, you’ll love it!
