This shop at the "Viktualienmarkt" is so small you might walk past without noticing it. This is exactly what happened to me and I am glad one of my friends pointed it out to me when I was looking for a place where I could buy unusual chocolates in a box. Yes, and those chocolates are definitely very unusual. Not only do they look breathtakingly like pieces of art, they taste even better - which is usually the other way around when trying fancy sweets.
Wilhelmine Raabe, the owner, calls hear chocolates "pralilies" which is the perfect description for those hand made beauties with ingredients such as French nougat, chocolate and marzipan, exotic fruits, candied flower petals, gold glitter and more. After having started with only 10 different sweets Wilhelmine now sells 150 different types, each one created with much love. One "pralily" is dedicated to King Ludwig, the "fairy tale king" and another one to Johnny Depp as an homage to the film "Chocolat".
Visiting the Sama Sama is a great experience, "oh" and "ah" is how people go when they walk in. You can try the "pralilies" while having a coffee at the shop and listening to one of the Wilhelmine Raabe's stories. And that lady does have to say a lot - that much that the Bavarian television dedicated one episode of a series called "Lifelines" to her.
