The Wittelsbacher Bridge spans the river Isar, not far from the city centre. It's my favourite spot in Munich. I love sitting here in this little nook, watching the people below, with a friend opposite me, catching up. I love watching the surfers underneath, the sun setting and rising. From here you can hear the revellers as the sun sets and the music starts playing, you can smell the smoke from the people grilling in summer further south down the river. I love sitting down with my pizza from Calabrisella.
It's not peaceful here, and it's not quiet. People are going by, talking, laughing, riding their bikes. Families with little kids speeding ahead, people walking their dogs, tourists taking snapshots from the bridge. Anything and nothing can happen if you are sitting here. It's like you are in the middle of everything but you yourself have stopped. It's a place to rest and take it all in, and to feel truly like you are in Munich.
