Norwegians love tacos. And so do I, hands down. It has become part of our culinary traditions and is probably the best conversation starter one could find when meeting Norwegian strangers. How do you layer your tortilla? Try it.
Though the Norwegian taco is a bit different from the traditional Mexican taco style, more and more alternatives have popped up in Oslo, as it seems like we can never get enough of this dish.
One of the true stars is Breddos Taco. Though situated in Mathallen at Vulkan, normally an ideal place for tourists to come blend with locals, it is a true gem among the bigger masses. Definitely worth digging for. Serving the taco in its original Mexican sense, I always want to return once I am about to leave.
You can get perfectly cooked corn for starters, followed by their addictive tortillas, with braised short ribs or oxtail and their Baja Fish, oh my, setting a new standard for fish tacos. The prices are not bad, I just need to control myself, as I always want another. Ideal for lunch and dinner every day of the week except Mondays, when Mathallen is closed.
