I have adored books for as long as I can remember. They work like keys, unlocking our imagination, and that is especially important for kids: in an instant, we can dive into many different worlds - one greater than another.
Svovel is a magical little place. This independent specialised bookstore for kids is full of handpicked, beautifully illustrated volumes filled with fantastic stories and creatures. Every time I am there, I have a hard time leaving the shop, and so does my son. There are books for toddlers and others for older kids; ones that paint the story only trough illustrations and others using the help of words. Last time I was there, I even found one where the readers needed to create a story themselves - what a cool concept!
I urge you to go and peek inside. Maybe you can surprise your kids with a new bedtime story, or maybe you are just looking for a beautiful high-quality gift. Imagination is one of the most precious and unique qualities we humans possess and it should be taught and nourished.
