You won't regret taking the time to wander around this little pocket of colonial perfection while visiting Philly. Head to Manning and Quince Streets in the Washington Square West neighborhood to start your stroll.
There's a reason why many Philly couples come here to shoot their engagement or wedding photos. The area is tiny - just a couple of blocks in diameter, but every detail is perfect--from the narrow cobbled lanes--to the colorful wooden shutters and window boxes--to the vines climbing the colonial brick townhomes.Â
Since the streets here are so narrow, the neighborhood is car-free. I love to walk my dog in the tranquil and safe haven away from city traffic. Keep an eye out for fun details like unique door knockers, artful ironwork, gas lamps, and vintage street signs.
The busy shopping and restaurant district around 13th Street is just a couple of minutes away so you can have dinner and drinks there and come over to Manning & Quince Streets for a lovely little stroll before or afterward.
Keep in mind that the area is residential - yes, people still live in these antique homes!
