Porto is blessed with magic places. The old Hard Club, planted in the Gaia river shore, was one of the most charming music venues in the world, as mentioned by plenty of artists. And it sure was: the perfect view of the River, the interior decor simulating a common portuguese street, and the privacy needed for intimate gigs. But, long story short, now Hard Club breathes life near the riverside, but on the other shore.
Besides having two rooms for concerts and other shows, Hard Club harbors a bar restaurant, recording studios and a merchandise store. In the future I might write about the restaurant, but for now I'll focus on the side of the Hard Club that I know best.
Well, Hard Club DNA is the alternative music, in all shapes and kinds. From Hip-Hop to Death Metal, everything is possible to hear live in the walls of Hard Club. It makes use of a structure built in 1885, called Mercado Ferreira Borgues, and the metal aesthetic of the building fits perfectly in the dark alternative brand that is Hard Club. The rooms are pretty cool to attend concerts, although sometimes it can gets pretty hot.
But, overall, the mysticality of Hard Club is well preserved where it stands. Check its programming and don't think twice if you're in the mood for rock!
