This was the last free spot with no building in the centre of Prague for many years, and we, city lovers, were really terrified when we learned that some developer had decided to build offices there. Offices, why offices, everybody thought.
Then in 2017, a new office building called DRN was finished... and fortunately, it looked really nice from Národní street. For me, the best part is the yard. It is free to enter, there is a restaurant, you can sit there for a coffee or wine and enjoy the unbelievable connection of old and new.
The architects (Stanislav Fiala, to be exact) managed to combine the quite old brick houses of the adjacent street with glass and steel architecture of the new office building and even interconnect them by using new materials for the old houses and old materials (decorative railings) for the new one.
For me the most interesting season is spring because there are many tulips all over the wavy terraces, and I love tulips very much, but the yard is fascinating during the year without exception. Have you ever watched someone work at his desk while you were standing above his head? Well I did, and you can too - just at this yard!
