If you like theatre plays and you're considering seeing some in Prague, you surely won’t miss The National Theatre, which is the prime stage of the Czech Republic. However, there are over 50 other smaller or bigger theatres in Prague and they are worth mentioning and visiting as well.
Hudební divadlo Karlín is one of the biggest and oldest ones with great history: it is a baroque building with a beautiful interior. It is not an ordinary one – “hudební divadlo” refers to a musical theatre and on the program you'll mostly find musicals and operettas. You will experience great performances and a nice evening, especially if you are fan of musical plays. Various plays are offered currently - Jesus Christ Superstar, Carmen or Dracula. They are performed in the Czech language, so you can challenge yourself if you are learning Czech, but most of the plays also offer English surtitles, so you will surely enjoy them - with great music and local singers!
