This is an unconventional place with a wilderness aspect to it where you can hang out with friends. Rohan ostrov (Rohan Island) in the district of Karlín is getting a completely new face by the massive development activities in the area. Thus, the commercially untouched nooks in this area are becoming rare and exceptional. Welcome to one of them!

The characteristic feature of this spot between the Vltava River (or better said the island of Štvanice) and the cycle path is a little concrete playground with a space rocket, a submarine and a third, unidentifiable object. Close to them lie random logs and several colossal concrete tables with a few benches at an optimal distance between them to maintain a little bit of privacy. In good weather, more people can gather here. And it may happen that they also partially occupy the playground. But only if the children have already had their nap.

In the evening I like the smell of the humidity to which the rivertrees and the land contribute together. The nearby cycle path helps get there easily. These paths are used by pedestrians in Prague as well. Unfortunately, the rules are not so precise as in the Netherlands and it could bring some terrible moments. Be careful. On the other hand, it is funny that even though you are near the border of Prague 1, if you’re lucky you can spot a wild rabbit or pheasant.

If you long for a pinch of adventure, you can climb a tree with a rope (see in the photo right behind the periscope).
