Kozí Hřbety Prague

Mountain-like hike in Prague

""Kozí Hřbety" or Goat's backs at the edge of Prague is a very narrow outcrop of rock that's one of my favorite places for hiking any time of year!"

If you didn't know that you're still in Prague, you may be thinking about wilderness in some mountain range. This is one of my favorite hikes any time of the year - however, it is much better to come here when it is not very slippery, since some of the slopes are pretty steep.

This place is called Kozí hřbety (Goat's backs) - very appropriately: you may be imagining that you are walking on the top of the back of a giant goat. It is a very narrow outcrop of stony ridge cutting through otherwise pretty flat terrain at the edge of Prague. You will get here by taking bus number 107 from Dejvická metro station and in 13 minutes you are at the end station Suchdol. Take the street "Za sokolovnou" and (with the help of GPS) go along the road until you reach the forest (in about 20 minutes). There you start following the green tourist mark and get ready to do a little up and down over the rocky path. Alternatively you can arrive by bicycle through Tiché údolí following the map in our blog about E-biking up to point 12.

At the end of the Kozí hřbety you can decide to follow the yellow tourist mark and walk through the valley of Únětický potok all the way to Roztoky, from where you can take a train back to Prague center. If you feel like a little refreshment, you can stop at the restaurant "U zvířátek" (At the animals) for a cold Únětice beer.
