Nowadays, museums are no longer simply very formal place to go and “watch” art, historical artifacts, or memories. Museums are now increasingly open spaces for various kind of activities – not only for exhibitions but also lectures, presentations, workshops, meeting points and educational activities.
Zuzeum Art Centre is definitely one of those: recently re-opened, renovated by private donations of the Zuzāns family – the Zuzeum Art Centre is spread over three levels of a historical building in the complex, with 3000 m² of space dedicated to exhibitions and public programs.
Currently, there is the inaugural exhibition “We Aim to Live. Contemporary Art from the Zuzāns Collection” which invites you to feel and explore the new home of the arts and believe in the future. Visitors are encouraged to look at the works of contemporary painting, sculpture, and ceramics from the Zuzāns' family collection and find an action strategy for the evening to come, for tomorrow, for next year, next time.
There is also a shop to buy some artistic souvenirs and a coffee place to sit down afterwards, have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and discuss the impressions of the exhibition and venue as such.
Plus, the rooftop terrace of Zuzeum Art Centre is a green oasis in the middle of Riga! It's the perfect spot for sunset-watching and enjoying the urban city view and having relaxing talks.
