Whenever my wanderlust is biting, but I don’t have the chance to travel, I head towards this secret corner of Rome that makes me feel as if I’m strolling around Notting Hill.
This tiny zone is just a couple of pedestrian streets, between Via Flaminia and Via del Vignola, made up of small houses painted in pastel shades, black fences with golden tips and stone-stairs leading up to the very English entrance doors. The two streets are both private, but it’s not so rare to find the main gates open and moreover, at the end of one of the streets there is a hotel, so the access to that street is always guaranteed.
I’ve always found that this tiny corner of London is the perfect place to recover from the chaos of Rome. Both streets are especially quiet, and every time I’m here I can’t help feeling as if I were in a dream, which is the only other occasion when I move so fast from Rome to London!
