In the Hoogstraat there is a slice of heaven waiting to be discovered. With a fusion between Western and Eastern flavours the menu is not run of the mill. The menu has something for everyone; big or small appetite, a savoury hankering or an aching sweet tooth. Amada coffee has managed to combine the industrial feel of Rotterdam with a tranquil interior which has a homely feel.
Amada was the first coffee bar to introduce the selfieccino. Yes, that’s right YOU can now feature on cappuccino foam! The coffee is not only delicious, but organic, sustainable and CO2 neutral which makes you feel even better about your cuppa joe.
The yoghurts are a post-workout treat, the sandwiches are good for the soul, and my soul craves the fried egg, avocado, olives, crumbled feta and walnut sandwich regularly.
The sweets are epic, out-of-this-world amazing. Two words: chocolate piñata! The chocolate ball comes swinging on a stand and bashing it with the stick is just a return to your childhood or if you are there with a mini human, the look of sheer joy is heart-melting. The pinata is filled with fresh fruits, cookie variations and cream puffs. Another favourite is the Chocolate Bomb; filled with fresh fruits and ice cream, you need to open the chocolate dome by pouring hot chocolate sauce over it. The sizzling brownie is served on a hot skillet with a side of warm chocolate sauce and ice cream. Amada is my beloved.
