In February 2019, chef Diego Buik’s highly anticipated hamburger joint, Diego’s, opened under the new Luxor Theater on the Kop van Zuid. As the current holder of the world’s most expensive burger and winner of multiple best burger of the world awards, it's fair to say this guy has a passion for burgers. The interior is edgy and elegant with very cool and instagrammable street art. The staff is attentive and kind and there is even a vegan option on the menu.
And the food? Well, it was beyond expectation. The burgers on the menu are delectable and have a twist. The monthly specials are out of this world. Some examples are: a burger with a donut as the bun. Say what? Yes, and it was nothing short of epic! The classic burger is divine, delicious in its simplicity with quality ingredients. The fries are super-tasty but I highly recommend the tatter tots. But there is more to Diego's than burgers! Chicken and waffles, mac 'n cheese balls and avocado fries are just a few mouthwatering sensations from the lunch menu.
Wash your burger down with one of the more exclusive sodas or craft beers. We opted for a glass of champagne (there is always a reason for champers) followed by a regular soda. I cannot wait for the brunch which will be available from March and will include eggs with brioche soldiers and chicken & waffles. I am in truly in love with this place and its exciting and evolving menu.
