Situated on beautiful Katendrecht on the corner with the Deliplein is CEO Baas van het Vlees. It may come across as a bit arrogant to proclaim to be the CEO of meat, but it is not arrogant if you can back it up! Voted best meat restaurant in the Netherlands a few times over the years, it is a place not to be missed if meat is your thing.
The selection of meat is diverse and the quality is outstanding. One of the things I like is the half portions option of both starters and main courses, just so you can experience as much of this meaty goodness as possible. The starter sharing platter gives you a bit of everything. Personally, I am a sucker for coppa de parma with burrata, the steak tartare and the carpaccio, are out of this world.
With your taste buds awakened, on to the main event. The Cotes de Boeuf or the Porterhouse are great sharing options. If you are not in the sharing mood, the ribeye or tournedos Rossini will make you grin with delight.
The great variety of wines on the list is an asset especially because they are available by the glass. The cheese collection is formidable. The fromager is very knowledgeable and not ending your meal with a cheese platter would be sinful. However, do not miss the amazing desserts! Warm madeleines, enough said. Add great service and broad smiles and you have the perfect night out.
