Situated on beautiful Katendrecht on the corner with the Deliplein is CEO Baas van het Vlees. It may come across as a bit arrogant to proclaim to be the CEO of meat, but it is not arrogant if you can back it up! Having been voted best meat restaurant in the Netherlands a few times over the years, it is a place not to be missed if meat is your thing.
The selection of meat is diverse and the quality outstanding. One of the things I like is the half portions option for both starters and main courses just so you can experience as much of this meaty goodness as possible. The starter sharing platter gives you a bit of everything. Personally, I am a sucker for beef tataki (finger-licking good) and foie gras and this starter is one of my favourites in the city. The steak tartare is out of this world.
Now that your taste buds have been awakened, it’s on to the main event. The Cotes de Boeuf or the Porterhouse are great sharing options. If you are not in the sharing mood, the ribeye will make you grin with delight.
The great variety of wines on the list is an asset, especially because they are available by the glass. The cheese collection is formidable. The fromager is very knowledgeable and not ending your meal with a cheese platter would be sinful. Add great service and broad smiles and you have the perfect night out.
