Situated in a building that used to house an illegal casino and in one of the busiest and most popular streets in Rotterdam, Witte de Withstraat, you will now find King Kong hostel and restaurant.
With a terrace that catches the sun if it is out and the friendly chilled out vibe inside with some great art, flop down in King Kong. The hostel has room for about 130 guests, and you have the choice of dorms, 4-person bunkbed rooms or a king-size all to yourself and travel partner.
The barista bar serves very good double espressos and the carrot cake is in my personal humble opinion one of the very best. The banana bread is too conveniently pre-packed not to take with you together with your coffee on the go. The lunch menu has some great dishes (all delish) and my go-to dish is the sweet potato waffle with crispy chicken and a fresh acid salad, although it is always a battle of the waffles for me, as the waffle with avocado is nothing to be snubbed at either. The kitchen is open and there are multiple levels to hang out, work or just chill. Have fun with the jar on the table with different game cards/questions in both English and Dutch.
So if you run out of conversation or want to get to know your side kick better, play it. Just go bananas at King Kong.
