Kyatcha started its sushi takeover in Rotterdam at the Foodhallen. Now they have a sit-down restaurant in the Leuvehaven which is a stunning visual masterpiece with a Rotterdam view to top it off. It is elegant and contemporary, and above all the food is amazing as always. You are in for a treat as this is not your normal sushi experience.
The menu has immediate eye-catchers for the sushi connoisseur, as well as well-known favourites done to perfection. Don't skip the oysters - they are exquisite. Favourites include the eel and foie gras sushi, tempura scallops, and tuna tartare, all my kind of heaven. If you are not into the whole raw fish experience and therefore think you do not like sushi, think again. The beef truffle roll is delicious, the steak tartare nothing short of heavenly, the donburi variety will leave you wishing for more, the chicken lemongrass poke bowl is uplifting and the Kaarage divine. Pair your meal with some still or sparkling sake or try a traditional Japanese soda for a maximum taste explosion.
There are vegetarian options and the chefs will accommodate all wishes. The quality of the food supersedes the highest expectations and the presentation of the dishes is nothing short of spectacular. Art is the only appropriate description. What I truly love is that even with their takeaway (yes they deliver!), no compromises are made. Try their sushi sets for a special treat. Kyatcha sees your sushi soul and makes the perfect fit.
