Who doesn’t love a good farmer’s market? Every Saturday you can find Rotterdamse Oogst (Rotterdam Produce) on the Noordplein. There are many stalls that will tickle your fancy. There is something for everyone: the fragrant bread, a gourmet vegan stand, various cheese stands, meat from biological butchers, local produce for the freshest fruit and vegetables, charcuterie to take home for some weekend downtime and there are some good gifts to be bought to honour and support local entrepreneurs. There are restaurants who will provide you with homemade goods to make your meals gourmet or just recreate your favourite flavours at home. Who doesn’t love a good jam or marmalade? Go to the UK? Why? The best jams and marmalades in the world are from Rotterdam! Get your jars of sweet deliciousness and try for yourself.
All this shopping has made you peckish? No fear: there are multiple ways to still your hunger. Go to sunny Brazil for a cohinxia (Brazilian croquette) or satisfy your sweet tooth with some brigadero. There are delicious soups, gourmet coffees and gluhwein to warm you up on a chilly day. Want something more than a snack? No fear either: there are many options for you to have a substantial bite and the market is scattered with benches to enjoy it.
Is a taste of Rotterdam not enough? Every Saturday at 13:00 a local artist will fill the air with some of the best undiscovered music. Food, drink and music - what’s not to love?
