Located in the middle of the Vroesenpark you can find Het Vroesenpaviljoen. A small restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and snacks accompanied with nice drinks. The perfect spot to have an easy breakfast, a late lunch or an early afternoon beer. Find yourself a spot inside or on one of the many picnic tables outside, in the sun if you’re lucky.
The restaurant is named after the park surrounding it, the Vroesenpark. A park usually only busy in summer and in winter mostly dominated by various groups of very sportive people. It seems to be a trend to join a bootcamp club and work your ass off in the park (literally). Thanks to the paviljoen the park has become more lively and more attractive to visit — the result of a restaurant serving good food prepared with, mostly, local product and according to what the season has to offer. Personally I love the croque madame combined with a homemade lemonade.
The Vroesenpark once was a place I only visited in summer to have a barbecue together with the rest of the city. Believe me, in summer it can get smekey. Now with the Vroesenpaviljoen located right in the centre, I go there all year round. A cosy place where you can spend all day from breakfast till it’s time to get your first beer of the day.
