Let me continue my story about one of my favorite areas in St. Petersburg - Konnogvardeysky boulevard. Being greatly fond of places where I can combine cultural and gourmet experience at once, I visited Stroganoff Steak House.
It is the largest steak house in Russia and one of the largest in Europe. Like all the buildings in the center of St. Petersburg, the restaurant one has also played a certain role in history. Before the Revolution, the barracks and stables of the Horse Guards used to be located here. The most elite regiments in the Russian Imperial army would participate in official parades and dressage demonstrations in the Manege just around the corner.
Stroganoff Steak House offers a “meat profile” cuisine, which combines international dishes for true meat lovers and those who are interested in a “Russian way” of cooking. I personally recommend Beef Tartare (yes, I even like raw meat) and famous Beef Stroganoff - one of the most popular Russian dishes.
If you are looking for something special, try an exclusive Wagyu Beef Steak and let me know whether it's really as good as it should (pretty expensive).
On one of my Sunday afternoons I visited their Sunday Folk Show (Russian music, songs and dancings with an English speaking MC). It's pretty exciting, but focused more on tourists who want to learn more about Russian culture. Keep in mind that it takes place only in summertime. I recommend that you register for the Show a few days in advance ;).
