Bekitzer Saint Petersburg – Hip Israeli street food

"Bekitzer" in Saint Petersburg is a cosy bar offering Israeli street food at bargain prices. It's already established itself with the city's 'cognoscenti'.

The minute you step inside from the street it feels as if you have been transported somehow to a corner of Tel Aviv. Bekitzer is a cosy bar that offers Israeli street food at bargain prices. Whether you are after a light bite such as falafel in pita or fancy a mezze plate to share, there is something for you to try. Their falafel and shakshouka are renowned as the best in the city, and since its opening in 2015 it has earned a big following and established itself with the city cognoscenti of all things 'St Petersburg.'

In addition to the food, it is the vibe that is famous. The neon light in the kitchen proclaims boldly that the kitchen is open until 06:00am, offering kebabs and pitta to street wanderers after a long night. As with the rest of the city, it has its own special character and atmosphere. It's quiet during the daytime but fills up quickly in the evening, particularly during the summer. It is my venue of choice for falafel and arisa (harissa)...
