I love bookstores. Do you want to go on an adventure? Solve a mystery? Learn about bike maintenance? To me bookstores are magical places full of possibilities. My favorite bookstore this side of the Atlantic is Folio Books in Noe Valley.
There is one word to describe Folio: adorable. It reminds me of the fictional Shop Around the Corner. If you don't know that reference please go stream "You've Got Mail" right now. Folio is nestled in Noe Valley which adds to its quaint charm. It's armed with a helpful staff willing to offer suggestions or help you find the exact book you need. Whether I'm looking for a New York Times bestseller or a local book about hiking trails in Northern California, they have it.
What does Folio have over other bookstores? The expansive local section. Every month Folio highlights a different local artist of book set in the area. They also host unique and fun events! Story time, Pajama Parties, and Pizza Book club for kids just to name a few. You can see their full calendar here.
It might seem strange to write about a bookstore as a must see attraction. But if you are looking for a book to pick up for the plane or just a nice place to spend the afternoon- whether you are a local or tourist, Folio is a must.
