There’s nothing like a decadent afternoon spent in the Sunset Avenues. It doesn’t matter if its foggy or sunny. The Sunset has a sedative effect on a person, in the best way possible. As far as SF neighborhoods go, this is probably the most quiet one. Perhaps because the pace is slower—it really has always maintained a weekend vibe.
In any case, if you find yourself deep in the avenues, and you have a hankering for some scrumptious fish tacos—well, shucks, there is a place just for you! Only a few blocks from Ocean Beach, you will discover a wonderful spot called Hook Fish Co.
I recommend indulging with whatever fish specialty you enjoy. I’m partial to the poke burrito, myself. Pair it up with a cold beer or sparkling soda and you’ll be pleasantly content.
I can tell you it is super relaxing to post up and watch neighborhood characters walk by. You will always see surfers in their wetsuits with a spritely pace head towards the waves. You can feel their stoked energy in anticipation to get in the water. You will see people walking their dogs, couples with smiles on their faces, and artist-looking types wearing casual surfer garb.
This strip of block has a sense of community and a harmonious personality. You should definitely make a point to treat yourself to an indulgent afternoon here. You won’t be disappointed, that I can assure you.
