Let's clear it up first - the so-called Roman Wall is not actually Roman at all! It is from the Ottoman period and is also known as the Old Wall. Now that we have that detail out of the way - the Roman wall is an ancient architectural structure located in the city center, just a 10-minute walk from the Patriarh Evtimii Statue.
Every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM, there is a small farmers' market that is highly attended by locals. The rule is "the earlier, the better" because there is a wider variety of goods. If you're spending a weekend in Sofia, start your Saturday morning here. Buy fresh, local breakfast items such as banitsa, cookies, and other baked goods. Everything is locally produced, which in most cases means organic and sustainable. If you're a foodie or enjoy trying new flavors, this is the place for you. Like most Bulgarian bazaars, there are plenty of honey products, different types of pickles (I highly recommend them), herbal teas, sausages, and baked desserts.
The prices at the bazaar are different from those at supermarkets. You may find cheaper seasonal fruits and vegetables here, but some of the more authentic and organic products like honey or jars of pickles may be a bit more expensive. However, you're buying directly from the producer, so you have the opportunity to ask for more information if they speak English.
Check out also the Farmers' bazaar in front of the MAV Building, which takes place every Wednesday.
