Do you need an escape from the crowds while still exploring? Here is a hidden gem - a cute tram stop: Vishneva (which means sour cherry in Bulgarian). If you decide to visit, you'll get a bonus: a short tram walk through the forest.
Vishneva is a small, charming wooden house in the forest. Legend says this house was once a hunting lodge gifted to Tsar Boris III by his wife. Built in the 1930s, it stemmed from Lozenets residents' plea to municipal authorities for Tram No. 1 to extend to their area, ensuring they wouldn't feel disconnected from the city.
My advice: Take off from the tram and sit on the benches for a brief forest retreat. Fill your bottle with water from the fountain there. You can even follow the forest path from there to the Borisova Garden. During all seasons, this place is a favourite stop for photographers, so unleash your talent and take some cool photos from here.
To reach Vishneva, you have two options: walk and explore the old and central Lozenets neighbourhood on foot or take tram No. 10. If you're near Vitosha Pedestrian Zone or on Patriarch Evtimiy Street, hop on from there, heading towards Lozenets. It's a quick 10-minute ride. The ticket is 1,60 BGN, and you can buy it directly with your debit card on the tram.
