Did you know that cricket is having a moment now in Uzbekistan?
Many people play cricket on a regular basis, however, 2 years ago if you asked locals about cricket they would answer “What is cricket?”, “Is it the sports played in Indian movies?”, or simply “I don’t know.”
On November 29, 2019, the Cricket Federation of Uzbekistan was established and since then it has been developing this sport in the country, spreading it among youngsters, and organizing T20 matches in different football stadiums, since cricket grounds are not available yet.
I work as a media and public relations manager in the CFU. The picture you see is one of the great moments of victory of our team ANFA in the recent game over Indian Club Tashkent. We won by only one run. I should accept that our players are not yet that experienced enough, however, their desire to win was stronger. The game was held at NBU Stadium and most of our games are held there. On our Facebook page, we announce upcoming games and welcome all interested people. The entrance is usually free depending on the place the game is held.
The CFU is going to participate in Asian Games 2022. Wish us good luck!
