I have already praised the Khinkali of the Shua Kalaki restaurant on the other end of Vazha-Pshavela Avenue. So, if the Khinkali Olympics were held, Shua Kalaki and 2 Tona (2 Tonnes) would be the finalists. The two restaurants are known for their exceptional Khinkali, but to compare the two would be unfair.
Firstly, the 2 Tona restaurant is not your regular traditional Georgian restaurant with a standard menu. The moment I looked at the menu for the first time, I felt so overwhelmed that I ended up ordering the simplest item – Khinkali. And when the order arrived, I was taken aback. See, what I admire in a restaurant quality Khinkali is its smooth and glossy surface of the dough part on the outside.
To stop with the praise of the food, let me indulge you in the menu. They brew beer on the spot in their giant machinery out in the open, visible from any seat indoors. The section of the menu I admired most was the “2 Minute Service” one, full of varieties of chicken wings, chips and so on. The menu is also filled with diverse European and Mexican cuisine, along with the biggest variety of meat I have ever encountered in the beautiful city of Tbilisi.
Sitting indoors is a pleasant experience as the interior is illuminated by big glass frames, which let a lot of sunlight in. The view is of the gorgeous tower building of the National Archives of Georgia.
