It’s hard to overlook ‘Lokaal Duinoord’ in The Hague, situated in the beating heart of Duinoord, the Reinkenstraat. But trust me, this is not a place you’ll want to overlook. The casual ambiance their biggest selling point in my opinion. Also, when you choose to sit inside, I highly advise to sit at a window seat, where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the Reinkenstraat.
I find their beer menu just plain impressive, as they have 9 beers on draft and over 60 special- and craft bottled or canned beers. Their menu is quite straightforward, but nevertheless difficult to choose between the great dishes. It mainly focuses on the French kitchen, rotates approximately every 6 weeks and is adapt according to the seasons. They stand for and cherish their relationships with fellow entrepreneurs and therefore mainly use local produce. For instance, they get their organic and free range meat from the butcher just a couple of doors down.
At the right time of day, there is a sliver of sun that shines in between the houses onto the terrace. This makes the Lokaal nearly the only spot in the Reinkenstraat where you can enjoy the sun until late afternoon / early evening. And even when the sun isn’t shining and you can’t sit on the terrace, it’s more than worth it to pop in and have drink or bite to eat.
