Between the White Tower of Thessaloniki and the Royal Theater you can find the place to relax and hang out with your friends, especially when the sun shines, as it is next to the sea. If the sun is not there, it could be very cold.
Next to the most famous monument of Thessaloniki, there is Alexander's Garden, for all the ages and preferences. You can find people reading a book, studying, even playing football. Some of us are trying to learn a new hobby, like slack-line, or juggling.
We usually go there for a coffee on the go, or in order to hang out with friends who play the guitar. I have seen people drawing and sketching, and others dancing. I think it is a good spot, if you don't have money, or if you want to spend your time outdoors.
Extra Tip: The park is also located next to the Royal Theater, so you could have a good opportunity to watch theatrical performances.

In the eastern part of Thessaloniki, you can find the “paradise of meat”, the restaurant “Nea Diagonios” (literally, “New Diagonal”). Although the area is not touristy, it is worth visiting (don’t worry, there is a menu in English too).

One of my favorite Byzantine monuments in Thessaloniki is the church of the Holy Apostles. What makes it unique is the combination of gorgeous frescoes and mosaics; even though the latter, only fragments are preserved!
