Note that the name doesn't refer to Germany's capital city but to one of Lou Reeds' albums and that Berlin is a 35 year old bar.
The perfect time to join the fun is around 4, in the morning that is. To enter Berlin you pull the heavy door and in an instant the quiet street fills with loud music, so be quick, the neighbors won't be very happy.
Walking inside you get hit by the black light making your friends' eyes, teeth and white clothing glow and the awesome sound of punk and rock. The music is so good that you'll end up unable to get up and go, promising to yourself every time that the next song is the last one.
The moment I knew I loved this bar was at the beginning of my second semester when on a snowy Wednesday night some friends and I decided to abandon our warm blankets and around 03:00 we headed to Berlin, expecting to find it empty on such a night. Amazingly enough it was pretty full of people, so we agreed to dance a bit, have a shot and go home soon, but the next thing I know is getting out when the sun was starting to come up.
So remember: you always come in with a dark sky and leave with the first sun rays.
