Do you think you know what a profiterole is? Think again!
The last few years, a new player in town has been the... talk of the town! Located in a very small place on Palaion Patron Germanou street, in the heart of one of the most beautiful districts in the centre of Thessaloniki, it offers fresh profiterole, made by hand right in front of you.
You can pick either cream filled or ice-cream filled choux and decide which of the 6 chocolate toppings (Bitter chocolate, White chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Caramel, Praline, Hot Bitter Chocolate) you want to escort your fresh, crunchy choux.
At the end you choose your final toppings if you want. You can pick between many kinds of nuts e.g. almonds, fruits like strawberries, whipped cream and even pink pepper!
You can find 3 sizes: small, which is perfect for one person, medium, which is perfect to share, and finally, you can find the family size.
My favourite one, which I think about all week, is the cream-filled choux with caramel, praline and almonds on top!

The iconostasis is just incredible! Pay attention to the dragons beneath the Cross on the top, they allude to the story of Prophet Jonah...

The current edifice was built in 1727. On the same site, there had been a 12th-c. Byzantine monastery, also dedicated to the Virgin that burnt down around 1690.

Even a tiny church in Thessaloniki can be a pearl! One of the smallest (if not the smallest of all) is the “Sotirakis” chapel. “Sotirakis” means little Sotiris.

"Massalia stin Thessaloniki" quickly became the talk of the town in 2014 when it opened. Today, this restaurant systematically exceeds my expectations.

In front of the promenade of Thessaloniki, there are innumerable cafes. The presumable question that a visitor may have is: “Which one should I choose?”. I have the answer! Of course, “Castello”.
