When walking around Tirana, you can hardly miss the hundreds of fresh fruit and vegetable markets dotted around the streets, and it would really be a shame not to stop off and buy some fresh produce from one. The fruit and veg sold from these stalls are locally sourced and truly delicious. They generally sell whatever is in season, so you might not always be able to get specific things, but whatever you do get your hands on, I can assure you it will be super juicy and tasty.
Having grown up in England, the biggest thing I have noticed when buying from these market stalls is the unmatched flavour; in England, so much of our 'fresh' produce is imported, and unfortunately, this means that lots of the fruit is picked too early and has very little flavour, but this is not an issue here.
If you're not sure where is best to shop, and I know it can be somewhat overwhelming, I would recommend popping over to Pazari I ri, where there are lots of stalls and where the owners will help you choose whatever you need. This is my local area, and it is such a joy to see and smell the colourful fruits every morning when I leave the house.
