Ask a random person to give you a synonym of a confectionery shop and they will tell you 'paradise'. Ask me where you can find such a paradise in Tirana and I'll tell you that it's on a highway to hell. Yep, right! Mon Amour is the sweetest hell in town, gathering there all my sinner, diet-breaking fellows!
I'm not addicted to desserts or sweets in general, but when it comes to Mon Amour I forget about a balanced diet, and thoughts like 'kilograms' or 'calories' don't bother me. As long as a sugar overdose doesn't scare me, I can go from cheesecake to macaroons and then to our traditional Albanian baklava really fast.
There are two Mon Amour shops in Tirana. My favorite is the one at "Rruga e Elbasanit" because I can enjoy the product of my choice at the very pleasant outdoor sitting garden next to the shop, so I don't have to wait until i arrive home to grab a bite.
Caution! You can't walk in front of Mon Amour without being tempted to enter knowing well that you will end up with a big big satisfaction in your heart and a deep deep pain in your wallet. Do not panic, though: it's not that expensive (well, compared to other sweet shops it is, but again it's affordable) - the trouble is that you can't eat just one!
Get it now why I call it 'highway to hell'? That sin is worth it!
