As with many places in Tirana, MUMA is a café by day and a bar by night. It is one of my best spots in Tirana; you could spend hours here without feeling as though you’ve overstayed—it really encourages that slow-living pace so many of us crave.
A bit of a TARDIS, MUMA is much bigger inside than you might think. The front portion is partially covered, allowing smokers to sit ‘indoors’ on cooler nights and creating shade on scorching summer days; to the rear, there is also a small garden area perfect for a breath of fresh air. The décor is industrial/natural, with bare brick walls, comfortable leather sofas and hanging plants; it’s a very cool place to stop by for a drink any time.
I would recommend popping by one morning, perhaps with a favourite book, and sitting near the front—the perfect spot to lose a few hours reading and people-watching. A favourite of mine for a brunch-time snack accompanying an herbal tea is MUMA’s pistachio croissant—you can’t go wrong!
In the evening, MUMA changes tact and becomes a vibrant, buzzing bar. You’ll find all ages chatting the night away over a drink, and the atmosphere is always friendly. The bar staff are incredibly skilled at making all sorts of cocktails and mocktails to fit your preferences, and they will chat with you while they make them!
