Pedonalja is one of the most unique streets in Tirana. It is next to the city centre of Tirana. The street serves as a main boulevard where cars are not allowed 24 hours daily. Only pedestrians are allowed to walk there. There are a few restaurant-cafes. In different periods of the year the Municipality of Tirana organizes different events. Around you there are small kiosks to buy beers, pommes frites, xaxiq, qofte etc.
I love Pedonalja in particular when there are national or international events. More specifically when it comes to watching a football match, Pedonalja is always full. People from all ages gather at Pedonalja to watch football matches and the atmosphere becomes very interesting. In such cases or when different festivals are happening, especially during the beer fest, it seems to me like a small Oktoberfest is happening in Tirana. On the weekend, I like to grab my beer and walk at least twice from the beginning to the end of the street to meet my friends around.
Pedonalja becomes very lovely during Christmas time and at New Year's Eve. The decorations and the improvised games, bars and shops make it very special and the most beautiful spot to have a walk, eat sweets or grab a drink. During this time it seems to me like I am sill ten years old. I simply forget about my age when I see those beautiful things during Christmas and New Year time and I feel happy.
