Among many other wonderful discoveries, Turin is also the capital of Vermouth, a type of fortified wine flavored with various botanicals. Its modern versions were first produced in the mid to late 18th century and some brands (Martini, to mention one) have acquired worldwide fame, while local distilleries have lost momentum and competitiveness; hence, the brilliant idea of 4 young entrepreneurial minds to re-open the Anselmo Rosso facility. It's located in the now vibrant and fancy area of San Salvario and brought the production back to the original recipe of 1854.
The result has been truly amazing, in terms of product quality and market success. A stop at the beautifully renewed venue of Affini is really worth it: the service is competent and kind and the cocktails made with vermouth are simply delicious (a Negroni with it instead of Martin is simply another story!). Furthermore, you can combine cocktails with delicious appetizers and snacks based on typical recipes reinvented with a tasty combination for fusion (vermouth-flavored sausages, Castelmagno with prunes compote, frog legs with mustard...). All in all it is the perfect spot for a tasty aperitivo or to enjoy one cocktail after dinner. Although two is okay too.
