The best thing to do in Turin during the summer is to have a stroll and then some gelato or something refreshing sitting in the shade of great trees in some garden. In fact Turin is one of the greenest cities in term of trees planted and great gardens are all around the city.
One of them is in a really central position. That's "Aiuola Balbo".
It's right around the corner of piazza Valdo Fusi where you can find refreshing beers at "Open Baladin" and near another big garden called "Giardini Cavour".
The garden was created in 1834, in the space created from the destruction of the Napoleonic Era city walls. It was abandoned for many years and then became smaller and was restored so Turin citizens could have a place to stroll and spend their spare time.
The Aiuola is really sabaudian, with green benches and trees all around the fountains that in summer create high water jets. When It's hot but windy sitting near the droplets scattered by the wind is simply delightful.
It's also ideal for families because here you can find a game section for children.

Parco Dora Turin has a post-industrial side and a surprising greener side. I really enjoy that greener side, and it's really close to my neighborhood, too!
