Fancy a trendy spot with glamorous cocktails? A hub of glittering shiny people talking about start-ups and Bionade? Well, in that case… please go somewhere else. The coolness of this hidden gem is about not being cooooool at all.
The glorious Bar Pietro, established in the sixties by the Sardinian Pietro and his wife, is just a spontaneous fresco of the many different social facets of this still ungentrified area of Turin: you will find the older customers hanging with their Fernet playing cards, swearing and talking about politics and football all day long, professionals back from office and thirsty for a Freisa, intellectuals and students giving the picture a very cultivated dimension (cultural events and concerts are daily business here at Piola) and epic characters of all sorts.
Plus, you will find behind the bar Giovanna (Holy Giovanna of the Spritz for the aficionados) and her companion Filippo, both 100% insular Venetians who give the bar and its terrace an unique vibe of Adriatic joyfulness (and spritz for only 3.50 euros!!). If you want to discover what a real “Piola di quartiere” is (a neighbourdood bar where all locals meet and enjoy the familiar faces) this is a must!
