Some people think ice cream is just for summertime, or at least when the weather is warm enough. But I am here to tell you that it doesn't have to be like that, especially when talking about these gelatos.
Glen and Arlena are the nicest people and experts in their craft. They create magic every single day in Antigua, as they have done in at least 2 other cities before coming to Valencia. That's how much they love to make delicious and creamy gelato. My favourites? To each their own, so I will not tell you which one to choose, although hazelnut, lemon pie and black chocolate are my top 3.
One of my fondest memories of the city during summer, moreover, during tough, humid summer nights, is sitting in the plaza by their giant-red-plastic cone and focusing on cooling down while having a delicious treat. It does make your moment sweeter in the best possible way. And I should say, make it a weekly habit; that way, you can try every flavour on the menu.
Antigua Lechería is closed for two months at the beginning of the year. But guess what, the season kicks off on March 7th this year, so be prepared. They open in the afternoon only but remain open until midnight during most of the summer. This ice cream could easily be my favourite recommendation in the city, so do not miss it.
