Eclectic spot in the old town
Cafe Infanta is easily one of my favourite restaurants in Valencia. Located in the heart of Valencia in what we now know as El Carmen, the restaurant sits in a building that houses the remains of an ancient “Arab Wall.” Cafe Infanta opened on March 15th, 1992, and resulted from a bet between the two owners.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, customers can enjoy a drink and people-watching in the Tossal Plaza or head inside and immerse themselves in the warm ambience of the interior. The decor is unique and eclectic; upon entry, you’ll find old-style Hollywood portraits hanging throughout the restaurant's walls.
Despite many restaurants’ kitchens being closed for a few hours in the afternoon, Cafe Infanta’s is open all day. Breakfast is served from 10:15 to 12:15 and includes some typical Spanish dishes like pincho de tortilla, a variety of tostadas, and huevos revueltos. For lunch and dinner, you can choose from an assorted range of tapas: my favourites are the duck samosas and the cheese platter. I love to pair them both with a bottle of Las Dos Ces, a red wine or “vino tinto” produced in Utiel-Requena, a region of the Valencian province famous for its use of the bobal grape.
If you're feeling frisky, after dinner at Café Infanta, you can head to Café Sant Jaume for some agua de valencia. It's right around the corner!
