Missing the Trees is the working title of an ongoing artistic exploration of mine.
Living upon Istrian stone in an architect's watery dream world like Venice, Italy, a nature lover such as myself often craves green. On days such as this, I walk on over to Laguna Fiorita in Cannaregio.
This cooperative opened its doors twenty plus years ago with the good idea of incorporating local individuals with special needs to their staff. Offering a protected place to learn and work is just one of the reasons Laguna Fiorita is such a special Venetian place.
Herbs, trees, seeds, flowering plants... shop here in this splendid 500 square meters of green space on the North lagoon. The knowledgeable staff is available to assist you with a simple selection or a complete design project for your home garden or terrace living. A couple of friendly canines may appear at your side as you take a moment to smell the roses.
If you are just visiting the city, seeking quiet and a resident's reality, stop by this spot. Observe how earthwork is accomplished floating upon water! Boats haul potting soil in from the mainland, just like any product a Venetian may need.
Nothing is nicer than the gift of a living thing. Laguna Fiorita has seasonal selections including Christmas trees in December!
