Anna Jeller Buchhandlung is one of the few authentic bookstores still left in Vienna. You’ll start your journey at a burgundy red door, with a bell ringing when you enter, and you’ll instantly find yourself in a world of literature.
Take a moment to look at the colorful covers, coast your fingers over the book spines, take one out of the shelf and experience the joy of reading it. If you turn your head to the corner on the far right, you’ll spot Anna Jeller or her husband sitting at a table behind piles of books that have been ordered via email and are ready to be picked up by their new owners.
Whether you are a bookworm or not, whether you speak the language or not, I always suggest going to a good bookstore. A good bookstore can reveal lots about the culture, interests, habits and values of a society. I often try to remind myself of the condensed knowledge that is gathered in only one bookstore. It’s a thought experiment which never ceases to amaze me!
