Some might say I only go to this Yoga studio because Chris Martin took a class there the day after he had a concert in Vienna. While there might be a germ of truth in this allegation, I have to cut Doktor Yoga off some slack; there is indeed more to it. The studio has got two different locations, both in the city center: one in the first district (Passauer Platz) and the other one in the seventh district (Kirchengasse).
After taking off your shoes at the door step, you’ll be enchanted by the peaceful, friendly and yet stylish environment you’ll find yourself in.
Both studios are situated in traditional Viennese flats, with high ceilings, pretty parquet flooring & big windows that allow for lots of natural light to come through.
There are about twenty teachers practicing Vinyasa Flow as well as Yin Yoga. The studio offers basic, open and relax courses, which you can choose from, depending on your skill level or the particular mood you’re in. I personally like going to the relax classes, as for me it’s a great way to allow my body to train mindfulness.
The schedule of both studios changes daily, but can be checked on their website. For your first visit you pay five Euro only.
Doktor Yoga runs classes in English language also. If you can, try one with Kate, she’s fantastic!
At the end of each practice we go into Shavasana, which usually makes me leave with a soothed and calm feeling.
