A wide selection of great movies (mostly screened in their respective original version;) awaits you at Volxkino until Sept 14, due to changing locations not always as packed as others, yet coming early on is advisable.
When they don’t screen World Cup football matches, they show a couple of movies at the Sommerkino Aspern Nord, until July 12.
Kino unter Sternen (above picture) June 29 – July 21 is a classic and thus usually packed.
If you love architecture Architektur.Film.Sommer is for you, Aug 1 – 29.
A classic is the silent movies mini-festival Stumm & Laut, August 16-18 (wait for the website update, it will come 😉 )
The dotdotdot short film festival for, against and about comfort zones, also starts a festival for the little ones this year: films for kids aged 4+. They suggest: pay what you can. July 3 – Aug 24.
Nice yet with admission (€6 – €8.50) are the following open-air cinemas:
Arena Sommerkino August 16 – 22, an alternative concert venue for chilly/wet evenings – you get blankets & a roof.
Then there’s the one on top of Vienna’s main public library June 1 – Sept 9 and the Kino Wie Noch Nie at Augarten park June 28 – Aug 26. Oh, and check out the new Silent Cinema on the university campus, June 14 – July 29.
