We all know the feeling of having not enough options to choose from when craving a cold brewski. Especially when your taste buds are fond of new explorations. But every situation has a solution and mine is a place called GAP. No, not the clothing brand. GAP stands for Gero Alaus Parduotuvė, which is Lithuanian for Good Beer Shop. A bit superficial right? But the spot really holds up to its name.

It’s located in Newtown next to my beloved culture slash music club – Loftas. Don’t get lost, the shop is downstairs from the street. GAP works as a beer shop, a bar and a venue for beer tastings. The selection of beers on the shelf is one of the biggest in the city. You can always find exciting beers from Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Germany, etc. or such household names as Mikkeller. My personal favorite is the Maltgarden brewery from Poland. Their artwork and recipes are outstanding and the beers always pack a punch of flavor.

Besides foreign bestsellers, they also sell a tremendous range of Lithuanian brewskies like Dundulis or Sakiškių alus. The lineup is always plentiful and up to date. I usually grab a few cold ones to go or a bit more if I’m organising a beer tasting with friends (do kegs still count for tasting?), but it’s also possible to drink on the spot. Although it works better as a shop in my opinion.  Anyways, just go and get it!
